A Humanitarian Initiative Under the Vatsalya Yojana
Under the Vatsalya Yojana, Gramonnati Seva Pratishthan works tirelessly to provide essential Health and Humanitarian Services to those in need.
Nagpur, known as the Zero Mile of India, is the central point from which four major routes of the country intersect. Unfortunately, these routes witness numerous Road Accidents, leading to the loss of many innocent lives every year.
The Challenge
After such tragic accidents, the bodies of the deceased are taken to large government hospitals for postmortem. However, there is No Dedicated Vehicle—either government-run or private—to transport these bodies from the accident site to the hospital.
As a result, people are often forced to use Autos, Trucks, or Any Available Vehicle to carry the deceased, leading to Undignified and Distressing Situations.
Even after the postmortem is completed, there is No Proper Facility to respectfully deliver the deceased person’s body back to their home or family. Every human being deserves dignity — not only in life but also in their final journey.
The Reality
Due to the absence of this crucial service, we frequently witness Heartbreaking Scenes — bodies being carried in unsuitable vehicles, tied with ropes, or transported in cramped spaces with their feet hanging out.
These painful sights remind us that Serving Humanity with Compassion and Respect is The Highest Form of Service.
Our Initiative
To address this urgent need, Gramonnati Seva Pratishthan has taken the responsibility to operate the Mortuary Van Seva (Shav Vahini) — a dedicated service for the Respectful Transportation of Deceased Individuals.
The service will:
- Transport bodies from accident sites to major government hospitals.
- Return the bodies respectfully to their respective homes or villages after postmortem.
Through this initiative, we aim to ensure that Every Life is Honored and Every Farewell is Dignified.
Implementation
This sacred initiative will be carried out responsibly under the Vatsalya Yojana.
A designated coordinator has already been appointed to manage and operate the Shav Vahini (Body Transport Vehicle) service. Preparations are underway to make this Noble Mission Fully Operational in the near future.
